Homily from the Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time.
At the heart of the unforgivable sin are two words.
The two words “I’m fine” might be a simple way of saying “no thanks.” But it is also a way of saying “I do not desire to change my current status.” Even if a person is thirsty or hungry, they might say “I’m fine" in response to an offer of water or food. In a similar way, someone who longs for mercy might say “I’m fine” in response to the offer of grace.
